Examinations

At Mater Dei Academy, examinations are a means and not an end. As a Cambridge International School, our students benefit from the advantages of international standards of excellence in our junior cycle. Cambridge International examinations are carefully staggered and designed to optimise our students' opportunities for learning. Upon completion of the six-year programme, all students at Mater Dei Academy can sit the Irish Leaving Certificate examination as external candidates. 

Junior Cycle

External examinations in core academic subjects at the Junior Cycle take place at the end of fourth year.

Leaving Certificate

All students at Mater Dei Academy study English, Irish and mathematics for the Leaving Certificate. As a small school, students at Mater Dei Academy enjoy significant flexibility at the senior cycle and students may select their remaining subjects based on interests and future ambitions. Current Leaving Certificate subject choices are:

Core subjects: English, Irish, Mathematics
Languages: French, Latin

Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Humanities: History, Art, and Music.

 

Other subjects may be facilitated on request.
